What I wouldn’t do for a Ted Drewes concrete right now!?!  I’m thinking the Fox Treat (hot fudge, rasberries, and macadamian nuts) – YUM!  Anyway, for those of you who don’t know or who’ve never been, Ted Drewes is a St. Louis institution.  And although you can get frozen custard in other places now, this is the original, and I guarantee you there’s nothing else like it anywhere.

Once you’ve gone to Ted Drewes, you’re hooked… as Katie Couric found out recently.  She’d been wanting to go for a long time, and finally got a chance to make a late night trip to the Route 66 spot when she was in St. Louis for the VP Debates a few weeks ago.  Last night, Katie did the CBS Evening News from St. Louis – and made sure she had time to sidetrack to Ted Drewes once again in the middle of the day, to get another concrete, in between stories she was reporting on.  That is something I can totally understand – anytime I’m in the neighborhood, I make sure I stop – to do otherwise would be sacrilege.  Glad to see Katie has caught the bug and is sticking to the code!

Here’s the YouTube video of Katie’s first late night visit to Ted Drewes a few weeks back:
